Is there a place in the world where has a completely clean record on human rights?

“Human rights refer to the concept of human beings as having universal rights, or status regardless of legal jurisdiction or other localizing factors such as ethnicity, nationality and sex”. As we see, human rights represent a fair equation among people and it is a universal fact, but human rights have been violating in some particular countries all over the world where there are individuals who are suffering violations of their rights because of developed countries’ profits, sex discrimination, and old traditions.

 First of all developed countries’ profits is an important cause for violation of human rights. Developed countries exploit the 3^rd world nations and rape their rights. “Colonizers generally dominate the resources, labor, and markets of the colonial territory and may also impose socio-cultural, religious and linguistic structures on the conquered population ”The best example of this theory is Africa. “In the late nineteenth century, the European imperial powers staged a major “Scramble for Africa” and occupied most of the continent, creating many colonial nation states.” European countries gain many effective resources by the help of this colonialism. Today’s developed European countries are based on these establishments.  “Since colonialism African states have frequently been hampered by instability, corruption, violence authoritarianism” These politics of developed countries that ignores human rights for their benefits, make African societies near to be terminated. In today’s world millions of people dies because of starvation in Africa, every year. “Due largely to the effects of colonialism, Africa is the world's poorest inhabited continent. According to the United Nations' Human Development Report in 2003, the bottom 25 ranked nations (151st to 175th) were all African nations.” It is difficult to say people in africa have human rights because they don’t have the right to exist.

Secondly sex discrimination is squeeze out the violation of human rights. “Sex discrimination means being treated unfairly because of your sex” Mutilation of women is stil applied in Africa that is a place in which human rights are ignored.  “The use of the word “mutilation” reinforces the idea that this practice is a violation of the human rights of girls and women, and thereby helps promote national and international advocacy towards its abandonment.” It has done for personal rather than cultural reasons. “Most human rights organizations in the West, Africa, and Asia consider female genital cutting rituals a violation of human rights. Among these groups and governments, they are regarded as unacceptable and illegal forms of body modification and mutilation of those believed to be too young or otherwise unable to give informed consent.” “Female genital cutting is today mainly practiced in African countries. It is common in a band that stretches from Senegal in West Africa to Somalia on the East coast, as well as from Egypt in the north to Tanzania in the south. In these regions, it is estimated that more than 95% of all women have undergone this procedure.”African feminists thought that they can change this situation and they used Hillar Clinton as a propogand channel.   For example, Hillary Clinton, then first lady, stated in 1995 at the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, China that “it is a violation of human rights when young girls are brutalized by the painful and degrading practice of genital mutilation”, but this application is still going on and human right is still ignored in Africa, today.

Another important factor is old traditions. Especially in Middle East countries, people disregard human rights and kill each other because of religion’s or nation’s out of date customs. Unfortunately, recent examples of these are seen in our country. In one month three custom murdering was done because of traditional rules in East Anatolian Culture about marriage, virginity and women’s situation in the society. This is a disgraced example for our culture.

In conclusion, human rights have been violating in some particular countries all over the world where there are individuals who are suffering violations of their rights because of developed countries’ profits, sex discrimination, and old traditions. Humanity has to learn much more things to live together in a peaceful world that everybody has the equal rights in society.
